Unleashing Leaders is The Coaching Room's flagship leadership training course.
Unleashing Leaders is co-delivered by The Coaching Room’s two Managing Partners: leaders (Joseph Scott and Jay Hedley) in the fields of Leadership development, Management development and Executive coaching.
On this Leadership development training program you will learn from and with trainers (that are using the skills and knowledge taught on this program) that are working with and coaching leaders every day.
This enables you to learn and ask about real life scenarios of problems and possibilities in leadership. This also gives you the benefit of learning about and understanding the challenges of leaders and leadership in Australia.
Unleashing Leaders is a leadership training course that is about you and your unique, individual leadership. This is also a training course, which gives you the advantage of individual growth in a group, allowing you to show up more and more authentically, in a safe, yet explorative environment.
It affords you greater personal benefit and deeper relationships and connection with your peers (on this public course or with your Executive team on our in-house program).
Throughout the program, you will identify and create a map of your ‘current way of being’ as a leader and utilise this to inform your leadership development (toward your potential) ‘new way of being as a leader’. This leading edge process will enable you to get real ‘in the moment’ feedback from the trainers and peers as well as the shared understanding that we are all in a very similar place.
The added benefit of this and the experience, will be to create a deep understanding of where you are and what your developmental pathway as a leader could be, should you choose it.
Unleashing Leaders, explores (deeply) the questions “what is leadership?” and “what is leadership to you, inside of your organisation?” as well as “what is the kind and style of leadership uniquely available to you?”
Throughout the program you will be defining your unique expression as a leader - to formulate your own leadership style. This will awaken within you the opportunity to identify and understand what's most important to you (your purpose and vision) about leading, enabling you to become a more grounded and stable leader.

as part of the Unleashing Leaders program you will also learn, discover and develop the 8 different developmental aspects of your 'self' as a leader
1. Developing your leadership identity
This will answer the question of who are you as a leader and what is your sense of self?
This will give you greater certainty and confidence, which also helps the transition from manager to leader. The benefit of this process is to understand whom you need to be to lead.
2. Leadership context
What worlds or environments will you uniquely need to lead in? Leadership is contextual and situational; no one is ever, always a leader. This will enable you to know when to leave and when to follow, freeing you to more effectively delegate and take control in more appropriate ways. Thus engendering greater followership as people around you experience greater clarity of purpose.
3. Purpose and intention
You will discover the power of intentionality. Are you intentional as a leader? What are your intentions? What are your biggest whys? Are you leading on purpose? Would you like to?
Knowing this gives you greater energy, and shifts procrastination and breathes new life into a great big why (sense of purpose) as a leader. This also, will allow you to get re-energised, wake-up, step up and lead.
4. Meaning and performance
As a leader you're about creating and sharing meaning! What meanings are you leading through? Here we will share with you the meaning performance quadrants. And demonstrate how meaning drives performance, period!
This will enable you, as a leader, to create real engagement for yourself and your followers. Leading to greater personal and professional productivity. The benefit of which will be a more confident and happy followership.
5. Emotional Intelligence
‘Unleashing Leaders’ explores emotional states and ‘emotional intelligence’. As a leader we lead other people from one state of mind-body-emotion to another state.
As a leader we must be masters of emotional intelligence. Understanding the keys to emotional intelligence will give you the ability to maintain optimum leadership states, even under duress or stress. This then also supports maintaining engaged staff and followers, which means your efforts in identifying, creating, and developing followers are well spent (and sustainable).
6. Power and skills
You will explore your ‘powers’ as a leader, your resources and potential, to enable you to more fully and completely “do leadership" where and when you want to. What you'll discover is that leadership does not exist! Knowing this will enable you more focus on what you are able to do, and the ability to delegate more effectively, giving even greater insight, in when to lead and when to follow. Which will enable you to demonstrate walking your leadership talk.
7. Relating and Connecting
We will look deeply at the significance and necessity of “relationship" in leading others. This will motivate you to develop relevant and significant relationships with key stakeholders and enabling smoother transitions and movement within your organisation. The real benefit here is in the level of increased influence you will experience as the depth of your relationships increase.
8. Time Management
As a leader, effective management of time is essential. We will address and identify your relationship to ‘time’. Is time a friend or foe to you? Understanding your relationship to time will enable you to have time, and not be had by time. This will also enable you to prioritise and understand more fully what to say yes to and where to say no. So you will be able to spend more time leading and less time managing.
Key models and lenses we use to explore your leading
The POWER Model
This is leadership process for achieving well-formedness, congruence and alignment. It is essential for leaders to be able to engage with and realise their objectives. This will give you a benchmark and criteria for being able to assess the attainability of KPI's and strategic, corporate plans. It will enable you to more effectively challenge your organisation, team or individuals on what they are doing, why they are doing it, and how they doing it.
The T-I-M-E (for a vision) Model
Do you have a leadership vision? Does it support your organisation's overarching vision? During ‘unleashing leaders’, you will be given and get to explore the T.I.M.E. model, a simple yet profound tool for developing your leadership vision, a vision containing all the essential components to engage and enable others to follow you.
Through this process, you will more fully know where you're going, enabling you to make greater distinctions and refinements to your leadership direction.
The Developmental Action Inquiry (DAI) Model
We will be sharing with you some of the work of Bill Tolbert, in particular his Developmental Action Inquiry (DAI) model. A tool that will enable you as a leader, to know what you are doing, why you're doing it, and how you going to get there and be able to know if you're getting there!
This model will give you an advantage in strategic planning and leadership strategy development. Knowing this will allow you to demonstrate your leadership capacity and knowledge. It will also enable you to see from multiple perspectives, and make more effective decisions through your own leadership understanding.
The Leadership Typology Lens
You will learn how your own personality type informs and dictates how you lead, at your best and at your worst. This lens will give you the advantage of allowing you to see yourself more fully as a leader. It will let you know when you are at your best when you're at your worst and what you are focusing on that can cause this. It will also give you the insight and benefit of developmental pathway for your own leadership.
